About Dr. Ananya Chakraborty

Ananya earned her law degree from the Calcutta University, Department of Law. She earned her Master’s degree in law from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata in 2009. She was awarded gold medal for standing first in the order of merit in LL.M. by the Nani A. Palkhivala Memorial Trust. Her LL.M dissertation ‘Child Soldiers in Armed Conflict: International and National Perspectives’. She was awarded her PhD degree on November; 2016, from KIIT University. Her PhD thesis, ‘Study of Extradition in International & National Legal Regimes: Analysis of Global Terrorism’ was written under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, presently the Director of Indian Law Institute. Her areas of interest are Public International law, International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, International Investment Law, Refugee Law and Environmental Law. Prior to joining NLUO, she was teaching in KIIT University, for over six years, and in Haldia Law College, under Vidyasagar University, for about two semesters. Ananya has keen interest pertaining to research in public international law area and human rights.
