“NLUO (CRAMON) Organised a Guest Talk by Mr.Ranjan Panda, Waterman of Odisha on World Environment Day 2021”
On 5th June 2021, CRAMON had organised a Guest Lecture for the NLUO Community. The Guest Speaker was Mr Ranjan Panda.
“On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Centre for Research and Management of Natural Resources had the fortune of hosting the ‘Waterman of Odisha’, Mr Ranjan Kishore Panda. After being introduced by a committee member, the President awardee initiated his eloquent presentation by discussing the theme for this year’s World Environment Day: Ecosystem Restoration.
Thereafter, Mr Panda proceeded to elucidate upon the importance of water conservation and further asserted that blatant neglect in this regard by the World Community has resulted in the serious denigration of our climate and environment.
In the second limb of his speech, the ‘Climate Crusader’ focused on the impact that climate change has had on the World Community and elaborated on a few of its negative effects, namely: the creation of new desert regions, the issues related to crop production, and the rise in sea levels and the resultant disasters that are being observed around the World. While concluding his discourse, Mr Panda urged the budding young lawyers to actively engage in environment-related legal issues.
The Centre is thankful to Mr Panda for agreeing to be the guest speaker on such an important occasion. It also extends a token of gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Ved Kumari, for gracing the event with her presence.”
